Well since I’ve got a long history of posting mac stuff (shoot, 12+ years of it! wow…), I figured I would post what I think we’ll see next week at Macworld.
- Mac Pros supporting either blu-ray or hd-dvd, and whichever they pick will be the ultimate winner.
- OR we might see a hybrid super drive that reads both?
- OR we might see a superdrive that writes blu-ray+dvd-r+cd-r, etc.
- notice a trend, HD is key this year. especially with analog dying in 2009.
- hmmm new cinema displays with isight built in and windows drivers?
- hadn’t thought this post out very much…. so lets guess office mac 2008 will be released….
- ok last one, i should be doing more productive stuff…. sooo…. overhauled mac-minis with some new video streaming tech and 500GB HDs
Yeah, if you want more predictions check out ThinkSecret oops. hmmm ok AppleInsider or TheMacObserver.
So ever since launching Twitbin (I know it was Friday, but it seems like an eternity now), I've noticed a cyclical occurrence in my surfing habits. Twitter has overtaken feeds as far as my attention is concerned. But it really stems back to college when people would watch other people's away messages to see what they were doing. I recall posting away messages to inform people I was going to the gym or the cafeteria to get them to join me there. Twitter is ena ... Continue reading
Some of you may know I like the
allofmp3.com site, its sort of a sneaky jab at the RIAA. But where is the movie/tv show equivalent of allofmp3? I know there has to be a similar loophole in russian law to allow for sales of digital duplicates of movies...
they could even save on costs and use bittorrent to offload the bandwidth. c'mon, $2 movies, $.75 tvshows? you know it would be awesome.
So I decided there was no reason for me to keep my 4 year old Dell that I have in my house, as it was on its last legs, and has probably gone through 3 hard drives, and a half dozen reformats over the last few years. So as I evaluated my choices, I realized that PCs always invariably look cheaper on the surface, but somehow I never end up getting one of those dirt cheap PCs. By the time I am done customizing my systems and building them, or buying them from Dell, the machine ends up costing close to 2 grand. So I thought, why not switch ... Continue reading
After reading Karel Baloun’s post on facebook over at mashable, one thing stuck out in my mind: Karel argues that yahoo doesn’t seem to tie its properties in together. He uses 360, flickr, upcoming, and delicious as examples where yahoo has failed to integrate the sites together, but what if they just aren’t there yet? Imagine the potential for anyone of their services if they tied upcoming into 360 (and actually pushed 360), or delicious and flickr? They have all these loosely related services which ultimately could ... Continue reading
So despite the hubbub over the google monster releasing another google product that will take over the google world, people are missing another important announcement: the Google Account system for web applications. What does this mean to you? Not much. What does it mean to me, the nimble web developer? Well for one it means the death of individual signups on sites. Now AOL has open signups using their screenname service (login w/AOL or AIM mem ... Continue reading
