So I’ve been looking everywhere for info on ads that were served by time/impressions, like my HyCT idea (naming needs some work, I know), and realized I couldn’t find any that weren’t video ads, soooooo I built one: Twitbin. Twitbin’s ad system revolves around time viewed by individuals, not just views as in traditional CPM.

What this means for advertisers: typically in cpm based ads, you are lucky if your ad is there for more than 30 seconds, thus resulting in abhorrently low click thru rates. So our solution was to make sure you get more exposure, since we don’t have pageviews in twitbin (its all AJAX) we had to take the next logical step and use the technology available to us. So we decided to rotate ads based on the time viewed and correlate that to the cost.

Hopefully after a few more weeks of testing, we’ll be able to share the results of this grand experiment with you and the rest of the world. If things go well, we’ll know whether or not exposure based ads work, and how well.

so i decided to make a radical change in this site. the new design is going to come along with the revised design on web+. i have a theory on what a personal site should be, and i think this is the perfect venue in which to try it out. there will be alot more video, more connectivity, and a whole lot more fun. fun, fun, fun.

so why haven’t i been updating this site lately? well i’ve been busy as all hell. We launched Twitbin, which is a twitter tool for firefox; its been really well received, and popular as hell.

I’ve also begun my job as project manager over at Scrapblog. I’ll be managing development of a ton of stuff over there, as well as advising on strategy, ideas, and making things happen. Don’t worry I’ll still be running infinimedia, just sleeping less.

I’ve also been working on building up our staff, always a tough and critical thing to do. How do you hire the right people who will be the right fit?

so stay tuned over the next week or so, in my spare time I’ll be reworking this site, and shifting it a bit, think less stereotypical blog, more awesomeness. also trying to clean up my feeds so i can keep track of them better.

So ever since launching Twitbin (I know it was Friday, but it seems like an eternity now), I’ve noticed a cyclical occurrence in my surfing habits. Twitter has overtaken feeds as far as my attention is concerned. But it really stems back to college when people would watch other people’s away messages to see what they were doing. I recall posting away messages to inform people I was going to the gym or the cafeteria to get them to join me there. Twitter is enabling the same thing on a broader scale.
I guess what is old is new again. Now if only I could mash up feeds w/twitter…
